Five years after the original StanbyME rolled onto the scene, LG has brought back the format with a bigger, brainier follow-up. Officially announced on June 29, 2026, the LG StanbyME 2 Max (model 32LX6BWGA) keeps the same core pitch — a screen you can wheel around the house — but stretches it in almost every direction.
The headline change is size. Where the first model topped out at 27 inches, the sequel steps up to a 32-inch 4K UHD (3840×2160) touch display. It handles up to 4K resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision HDR, so the picture credentials go well beyond what you’d expect from a glorified kitchen telly.
The clever bit remains the hardware around the panel. The display detaches and mounts on a wheeled stand, letting you drag it from the living room to the bedroom to the office without unplugging anything. It pivots between portrait and landscape, so you can flip it vertical for scrolling phone-mirrored content and back to horizontal for films. Speaking of which, there’s screen mirroring from your phone built in.
Untethering it fully is a 144-Wh battery that’s good for around 4.5 hours of playback before it needs a mains socket — enough to see most feature films through to the credits, if not a full double bill.
Sound gets the AI treatment too. There’s Dolby Atmos support, and the whole thing runs on LG’s Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen3, which conjures a virtual 11.1.2-channel surround field from the onboard speakers. When it’s parked and idle, it can moonlight as digital wall art courtesy of LG Gallery+, which softens the blow of having a big black rectangle loitering in the corner.
Practical concerns aside, this is a genuinely versatile bit of kit — the kind of screen that blurs the line between a TV, a smart display and a portable monitor. Whether you’ll actually cart it between rooms or just leave it planted in one spot is the real question, but the flexibility is there if you want it.
The catch, as ever, is the money. The StanbyME 2 Max carries a US price of $1,299.99, which is a hefty ask for a 32-inch display, wheels or no wheels. That said, you’re paying for the mobility and the smart-display extras as much as the panel itself.
Availability is rolling out now. The StanbyME 2 Max reaches the US and Canada in July 2026, with France, Italy and Taiwan following in August. It launched earlier in Korea back in April. If you’re in the US, preorder units are expected to ship the week of July 26, 2026.
