If you’ve hit Palworld’s mid-to-late game and started dabbling in advanced crafting, you’ve probably run into a wall named nightstar sand. This resource is the gateway to gadgets like metal detectors, beam swords and a handful of other accessories — and while the quantities you need are mercifully small, actually getting your hands on the stuff is another matter entirely.
Here’s the frustrating part up front: you can’t ranch nightstar sand. No cozy base setup will passively churn it out for you. Instead, you’re looking at old-fashioned scavenging, plus a couple of end-game Pals that happen to drop it.
Where to actually find it
The most reliable spot — and we use “easiest” loosely — is the northern coast of Feybreak Island at night, near the Scorched Ashland teleport point. When darkness falls, the sand literally glows on the ground, making it hard to miss. Walk up, collect, repeat. It’s low-tech treasure hunting at its finest.
A second reliable stretch runs along the northwestern shore of Feybreak Island, around the Curved Redrock teleport point. Same deal: wait for night, watch for the telltale shimmer.

The night-cycle problem
Here’s the catch that trips up a lot of players: by default, Palworld’s nighttime lasts only around five minutes. That’s barely enough time to sprint the coastline before dawn wipes the glowing deposits off your radar. If you’re coming up short, dive into your world settings and stretch out the length of the day/night cycle. A longer night gives you far more breathing room to comb the beaches without teleporting back and forth in a panic.
What about the Pals?
Two Pals also drop nightstar sand: Starryon Primo and Wistella. Sounds convenient — until you realize they only appear in meaningful numbers out in the wild in the World Tree area, which is deep into the endgame. Unless you’re already parked in that region, you’ll likely find beachcombing the far quicker and less painful route.
Bottom line: keep your teleport list bookmarked, tweak your night length, and treat those glowing patches of sand like the mid-game currency they are. A little planning turns a genuinely annoying grind into a five-minute detour.
