Marantz has just quadrupled its home cinema firepower, rolling out four fresh AV receivers that the brand insists deliver “ground-breaking” gains in sound quality, connectivity and gaming smarts. Say hello to the Cinema 50 Series 2, Cinema 60 Series 2, Cinema 60 DAB Series 2 and Cinema 70s Series 2.
The common thread running through all four is a new 32-bit, eight-channel DAC, which Marantz says handles dedicated simultaneous high-resolution conversion on every channel — no shared duties, no compromises. It’s the kind of foundational upgrade that tends to pay dividends across the whole range rather than just the flagship.
And speaking of the flagship: the Cinema 50 Series 2 tops the pile with nine channels of amplification (110W apiece) and 11.4 channels of processing. Its Dolby Atmos Channel Expander presses every connected speaker into service during channel-based Atmos playback, while a Centre Bi-Amp Mode lets you bolt a compatible centre speaker onto the front left and right pair — a neat trick for anyone who struggles to pick out dialogue.
Below it, the two Cinema 60 models both push seven channels at 100W and, per Marantz, funnel “many of the platform’s latest innovations” to a broader crowd. The Cinema 70s Series 2 is the space-saver of the group, wrapped in a slimline chassis and dialled back to seven channels at 50W.
Room correction comes courtesy of Dirac Live, promising tighter bass and a bigger sweet spot — though it’s an optional extra on every model bar the flagship, where it’s included. Streaming is covered by Marantz’s HEOS multi-room platform and Bluetooth, with a future firmware update lined up to add low-latency Bluetooth LE Audio for compatible headphones and phones.
Gamers get some love too. Every model supports 1440p pass-through at 120Hz and AMD FreeSync variable refresh rate, so tearing and stutter should be off the menu whether you’re on PC or console. HDMI 2.1 is on board, though Marantz hasn’t confirmed the port count just yet.
On pricing, the Cinema 70s Series 2 is the entry point at $1,500 / £950. The Cinema 60 Series 2 lands at $2,000 in the Americas and APAC, while European buyers get the Cinema 60 DAB Series 2 at £1,250 / €1,450 instead. Sitting at the summit, the Cinema 50 Series 2 arrives at $3,000 / £1,850 / €2,100.
All four went on sale on August 15, 2026. That flagship price puts the Cinema 50 squarely in the crosshairs of Arcam’s five-star AVR5 — and with Marantz’s pedigree behind it, the reigning mid-range champ may have a genuine fight on its hands.
