Moto G Max. A 7,000mAh battery that dares you to find an outlet

Motorola already teased the Moto G Max to select global markets back in June, and now the phone is making its way to India with a reshuffled spec sheet. The launch is set for August 14, with sales going live through Motorola’s official website and Flipkart.

The headline number is hard to miss: a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, paired with 30W wired fast charging. That’s a genuinely large cell for a device in this class, and silicon-carbon chemistry is what lets Motorola squeeze that capacity in without turning the phone into a brick. If endurance is your priority over glamour, this is the pitch.

Powering things is the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, backed by 6GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It’s a sensible mid-range combination — fast enough memory and storage standards to keep everyday multitasking and app loading brisk, without pretending to be a flagship.

On the front sits a 6.72-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full-HD+ resolution. LCD rather than OLED is a cost decision, but the high refresh rate means scrolling and animations should still feel smooth.

The camera setup is more interesting than the segment usually allows. The main sensor is a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600, joined by an 8MP ultrawide and a 32MP front-facing camera. A recognizable Sony sensor at the back is a nice signal that Motorola isn’t cutting corners on the part most buyers actually care about.

The rest of the package rounds things out neatly:

  • IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance
  • Stereo speakers
  • A 3.5mm headphone jack — still appreciated by wired-audio holdouts
  • A side-mounted fingerprint sensor

Software-wise, the Moto G Max ships with Android 16 out of the box, alongside a commitment to two OS upgrades and three years of security patches. That’s a reasonable, if not class-leading, support window at this price point.

Speaking of price, Motorola has not yet confirmed an official India figure. Industry estimates put it at around Rs 30,000 (~$315 USD), but treat that as a placeholder until the company makes it official on launch day.

Taken together, the Moto G Max reads like a deliberately battery-first phone that refuses to be one-dimensional. The enormous 7,000mAh cell is the star, but the Sony main camera, high-refresh screen and clean Android 16 experience give it more than a single trick. We’ll know how the numbers stack up against the value once the price is locked in.
