Fiber is the backbone of modern connectivity, and it’s unforgiving when physically damaged. Unlike a software glitch that a remote reboot can fix, a severed cable means crews have to locate the break, splice hundreds of hair-thin glass strands back together, and re-test the line before traffic flows again. Verizon says repairs were started quickly, and service was restored within a few hours.
Law enforcement was notified and is investigating the incident. Deliberate cable-cutting isn’t just an inconvenience for people trying to stream, browse, or send a text — it can knock out connectivity that emergency services, businesses, and households depend on.
