Poco’s M8 lineup keeps multiplying. After the M8 and M8 Pro in January, the M8s in April, and the M8 Power earlier this month, the company has now started teasing a fifth member of the family: the Poco M8x 5G.
The teaser campaign lives on a dedicated microsite on Flipkart, which doubles as confirmation of where you’ll eventually be able to grab the phone in India. Beyond that, Poco is playing coy — the microsite tells us the device will support 5G, and not much else in the way of hard numbers.
What it does give us is a first look at the design. The teaser image shows the phone’s back in a dark green finish with what appears to be a textured rear panel — the kind of surface treatment that tends to shrug off fingerprints and add a bit of grip in hand. It’s a restrained, grown-up look for a series that usually lives at the affordable end of the market.
Everything else remains a blank slate. There’s no word yet on the chipset, display, camera setup, or battery, and Poco hasn’t put a price tag on the M8x 5G either. The Flipkart listing simply marks it as coming soon, so the launch date is still under wraps.
That said, the naming tells a story of its own. Poco has now stretched the M8 badge across five distinct variants, each carving out a slightly different niche:
- M8 and M8 Pro — the original January duo
- M8s — added in April
- M8 Power — launched earlier this month
- M8x 5G — the newcomer currently being teased
It’s a familiar Poco tactic: blanket a price segment with closely related models so there’s an option for nearly every buyer, whether they prioritize battery life, performance, or simply the lowest possible entry point. Where exactly the M8x slots in remains to be seen, but the 5G branding at least signals connectivity is a headline feature.
Expect Poco to drip-feed more details in the run-up to launch, as it typically does with these microsite campaigns. For now, all we have is a promising shade of green and the promise of 5G — enough to pique curiosity, if not to fill out a spec sheet just yet.
