Nokia 300 Charge. The feature phone that doubles as a power bank
SHARE

The oversized-battery craze has crept out of the smartphone aisle and landed somewhere unexpected: a humble candybar feature phone. HMD’s Nokia 300 Charge packs a 3,700mAh removable battery, more than twice what you’d expect from a typical dumbphone, and it’s willing to share.

The headline trick is a dedicated “Out” button on the side. Press it and the USB-C port flips into reverse-charging mode, pushing 10W back out to whatever needs topping up — earbuds, a smartwatch, or a friend’s dying phone in a pinch. The same port refills the 300 Charge itself at 10W when it’s time to plug back in.

Now, 3,700mAh doesn’t sound like much next to a modern smartphone, but that’s the wrong comparison. A feature phone running a monochrome-simple software stack on a low-power chip barely sips from the battery. Here that translates to up to 37 hours of talk time and over 40 days of standby — numbers that make the reverse-charging feature genuinely useful rather than a gimmick, since the phone can afford to spare the juice.

Under the shell sits a Unisoc SC6531E chipset paired with a decidedly retro 4MB of RAM and 4MB of internal storage. That’s not a typo — this is a phone for calls, texts and not much else. A microSD slot handles up to 32GB if you want to load some music, and there’s dual Mini-SIM support with dual standby for anyone juggling two numbers.

The display is a 2.4-inch QVGA panel at 240 × 320 pixels — small, cheerful, and perfectly adequate for a contacts list. The whole thing measures 136.55 × 55 × 14.94mm and weighs 138 grams, giving it that reassuringly chunky feel a good feature phone should have. The thickness isn’t an accident, either: that big removable cell needs somewhere to live.

The appeal here is straightforward. It’s the kind of device you toss in a bag as a backup, hand to a kid, or carry to a festival where you’d rather not risk your $1,000 flagship. And because it can charge other gadgets, it earns its place even when it’s not your main phone.

  • Battery: 3,700mAh, removable
  • Charging: 10W wired in, 10W reverse out via USB-C
  • Display: 2.4-inch QVGA (240 × 320)
  • Chipset: Unisoc SC6531E, 4MB RAM / 4MB storage
  • Storage: microSD up to 32GB
  • Endurance: up to 37 hours talk, 40+ days standby

The Nokia 300 Charge was announced on August 21, 2026, priced at $35. It has started rolling out, and is already available to buy in the Philippines through Lazada and Shopee, with wider availability expected later in August.
