Poco is turning its next launch into a battery arms race. On September 4, 2026, the brand will unveil two phones side by side — the Poco X8 5G and the Poco X8 Power 5G — and both are clearly aimed at anyone who treats a low-battery warning as a personal insult.
Start with the standard model. The Poco X8 5G packs a genuinely enormous 9,000 mAh battery, which Poco is happy to translate into something like 3.2 days of use. To refill it there’s 67W wired charging, plus 22.5W reverse charging so the phone can act as a power bank for your other gadgets. Running the show is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip.
The screen is the other headline. You get a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel at 1.5K resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, a claimed 3,500-nit peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 up front. That’s a display spec sheet that wouldn’t look out of place on a phone costing considerably more than this one’s roughly $292–313.
Then there’s the Poco X8 Power 5G, which is basically the X8 with the ambition dial cranked further right. It steps up to a colossal 10,000 mAh battery — the kind of figure usually reserved for rugged phones — and pairs it with much faster 100W wired charging to keep the top-up times sane. Powering it is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 5.
The Power model keeps the same generous 6.83-inch screen size, though here it’s a 1.5K LTPS OLED panel, again running at 120Hz. All of that lands at around $365, a modest premium over the standard X8 for a meaningfully bigger cell and a big jump in charging speed.

Poco has been calling the whole campaign “power maxxing,” and for once the marketing name is hard to argue with — two phones with 9,000 mAh and 10,000 mAh batteries make most flagships look positively frail. The real question is whether a phone this thoroughly weighted toward endurance can still feel like something you want in your pocket. We’ll find out on the 4th.
