Rear screens have been a recurring experiment in Android land, usually reserved for flagships and folding phones. Lava is taking a different route with the Virat Curve, a mid-range handset that builds a small secondary panel straight into the rectangular camera module. Lava calls it the Mini Display, and it handles notifications, music controls, custom messages, battery status and emojis without waking the main screen. The phone goes on sale in India on September 21, 2026 at 12 PM local time, exclusively through Flipkart, where a dedicated microsite has already spelled out the spec sheet.
That main screen is a 6.67-inch 3D curved AMOLED running at 1080×2400 with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,100-nit peak brightness. Curved glass on a phone at this level is the headline flourish, and Lava quotes a 93% screen-to-body ratio for it. An optical in-display fingerprint scanner sits underneath.
Inside is MediaTek’s Dimensity 7100, an octa-core chip paired with 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of storage, with another 6GB available as virtual RAM. It is a single-configuration phone, which keeps the buying decision refreshingly simple.
The camera story is built around one sensor rather than a padded array. The rear main camera is a 50MP unit using Sony’s IMX752, capable of 2K video capture at 30fps. Selfies come from an 8MP punch-hole camera on the front.
Endurance looks like the real selling point. Lava has fitted a 6,000 mAh battery with 45W fast wired charging — a combination that is becoming the standard answer in this segment, and a sensible one given the 120Hz panel. Audio runs through dual speakers, with dual microphones for capture. Durability credentials include an IP64 rating against dust and splashes plus MIL-STD-810H certification.
Software is where Lava has quietly built its reputation, and the Virat Curve continues the pattern with clean Android 16, free of the promotional clutter that clogs many rivals. The company promises two major OS upgrades and three years of security updates. AI features are part of the package too, including AI Call Summary, AI Voice Translation and Lava’s Vayu assistant.
