The vivo X Fold6 has plenty of fans, but its price is still the main obstacle. GSMArena asked its readers whether they were interested in vivo’s new book-style foldable, and the results, published on October 11, 2026, put a clear number on the problem. Among people who want a foldable at all, the largest group is waiting for a price cut.
The poll gathered 482 votes. Here is how they split:
- I want one – 57 votes (11.8%)
- Yes, but not at this price – 106 votes (22%)
- Yes, but it’s not available near me – 18 votes (3.7%)
- I want another book-style foldable instead – 48 votes (10%)
- I want a wide foldable instead – 49 votes (10.2%)
- I want a flip foldable instead – 6 votes
- I don’t want a foldable at all – 173 votes (35.9%)
- None of the above – 25 votes (5.2%)
The price problem
Foldables were expensive to begin with, and rising memory chip costs have pushed their prices higher. The X Fold6 is no exception. In the original poll, GSMArena listed European prices: €2,200 in Austria and Italy, and €1,980 in Spain, down from an MSRP of €2,200. Spanish buyers also get a 100W charger in the box. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra starts at €2,200 for the 12/256GB model and the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold at €2,000 for 16/256GB.
The phone reached the global market too late for Prime Day. GSMArena expects some discounts, but not big ones, because the vivo X300 flagships it has tracked for months never saw deep cuts. vivo has pitched the X Fold6 as a no-compromise device that leads on performance, battery life and cameras despite a slim body. It isn’t sold as a value buy.

Chip worries and shape wars
Some readers objected to the switch from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the vivo X Fold5 to the Dimensity 9500 Super. Others said Android apps still need better support for foldable screen sizes and aspect ratios. The form factor itself is also up for debate. Wide foldables such as the Xiaomi 18 Fold, the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the iPhone Duo got almost the same number of votes as other book-style models (49 versus 48). Buyers clearly haven’t settled on one design yet.
Availability is a minor complaint by comparison, at 3.7% of votes. With durability largely solved, price remains the main barrier to wider foldable adoption, and the X Fold6 is a clear example.
