The headline act is the display. NXTPAPER 4.0 is TCL’s matte, paper-like screen technology, and it’s the reason this slate has more character than the price tag suggests. The panel measures 11.5 inches, pushes a crisp 2.2K resolution and runs at a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The clever part is how it behaves: the matte finish cuts glare and knocks down blue light, so you can drop into a paper-like reading mode when your eyes are begging for mercy, then flip back to full color when you want to watch something.
Underneath sits a MediaTek Helio G100 processor, paired with either 8GB + 256GB or 12GB + 256GB of memory. That’s a generous helping of storage for a tablet at this price, and enough RAM to keep Android 15 from stumbling as you juggle a browser, an e-book and a video call. Speaking of which, it ships with Android 15 out of the box, which is more than plenty of pricier rivals can claim.
Battery anxiety shouldn’t be an issue either. TCL packed in an 8000mAh cell, the kind of capacity that turns a tablet into a genuine all-day companion rather than a device permanently tethered to a wall socket.
The extras round things out nicely:

What TCL has done here is refreshingly simple. Instead of chasing spec-sheet supremacy it can’t win at this price, it leaned into one genuinely useful idea, the NXTPAPER display, and built a sensible tablet around it. If you spend hours reading, note-taking or doom-scrolling and your eyes pay the price, that matte panel is the sort of feature you notice every single day.
The NXTPAPER 11 Plus was announced on March 3, 2025 at Mobile World Congress and reached shelves on May 1, 2025. It remains in production and on sale, and at $249 it’s an easy recommendation for anyone who wants a budget slate that doesn’t feel like a compromise.
