The garage doors are swinging open again. Prime Video has confirmed that The Grand Tour will return on September 4, 2026, marking the first proper reboot of the automotive juggernaut since Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May parked their careers on the show for good.

The headline change is the presenting lineup, and it’s a bold one. Stepping into the driver’s seats are James Engelsman and Thomas Holland, the duo behind the wildly popular YouTube channel Throttle House, joined by internet-famous trainspotter-turned-petrolhead Francis Bourgeois. It’s a generational handover from broadcast TV veterans to creators who cut their teeth on streaming and social platforms — a signal of exactly where Prime Video thinks the audience is heading.

The new season will launch with six all-new episodes. That’s a substantial batch out of the gate, and it suggests Prime Video isn’t treating this as a cautious pilot run but as a full-blooded continuation of one of its flagship unscripted franchises.

Fans of Throttle House will already know what Engelsman and Holland bring to the table: sharp technical breakdowns, a genuine obsession with drivetrains and lap times, and an easy on-camera chemistry that has racked up millions of views. Bourgeois, meanwhile, offers something less predictable — an enthusiast whose infectious curiosity made him a viral sensation long before he ever slid behind a supercar’s wheel.

The challenge, of course, is enormous. For nearly two decades, first on Top Gear and then on The Grand Tour, the Clarkson-Hammond-May trio defined the format so thoroughly that any successor invites instant comparison. But that same weight of expectation is arguably why Prime Video went for a clean break rather than a like-for-like impersonation. Rather than hunting for three more middle-aged broadcasters, the streamer has leaned into the creator economy, betting that authenticity and a native understanding of car culture online will resonate with a new wave of viewers.

What remains to be seen is how the show’s DNA translates. The Grand Tour was never just three people reviewing cars — it was elaborate challenges, exotic locations, staged chaos and a very particular brand of scripted mischief. Whether the incoming trio embrace that theatrical formula or reshape it into something more grounded and technically focused could define the season’s identity.

Either way, September 4 is now firmly circled on the calendar for anyone who likes their horsepower served with a side of banter. The old crew set an almost impossibly high bar. The new one gets to decide whether to clear it or build a different track entirely.
