Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The two-hour reveal marathon lands today
SHARE

The gaming calendar’s loudest evening is back, and it’s happening right now. Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 kicks off today, August 25, at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT / 7 p.m. BST, packing a firehose of announcements, first looks, and extended trailers into a tight two-hour window.

If you’ve never sat through one of these, here’s the shape of it: ONL is less a press conference and more a rapid-fire montage of games, host Geoff Keighley‘s traditional stage for the show. Expect world premieres to slam into extended gameplay demos with barely a breath in between. Blink, and you’ll miss a reveal — which is exactly why we’re rounding everything up in one place as it drops.

The heavy hitters are expected to show face. Sony, Xbox, and Ubisoft are all in the mix, alongside the usual crowd of publishers eager to plant their flag before the holiday sales window and the early 2027 lineup starts taking shape. That combination of first-party muscle and third-party ambition is what makes ONL worth clearing your evening for.

What sets Gamescom’s opening act apart from other showcases is its European center of gravity. Cologne is where the industry comes to talk directly to players rather than shareholders, and the show floor that follows tends to be denser with hands-on demos than any other event of its kind. ONL is the starting pistol for all of it.

What to keep an eye on during the stream:

  • World premieres — brand-new titles announced cold, with no prior teasing.
  • Extended looks — deeper gameplay cuts of games we already know are coming.
  • Release dates — the moment vague “2026” windows firm up into actual days on the calendar.
  • Surprise appearances — the unannounced guests that ONL has made something of a habit.

Because this is a live event and the show is unfolding as you read this, we’re treating this page as a living document. Trailers, first looks, and the announcements that actually matter will land here as they’re confirmed on the broadcast — no rumor-chasing, no filler, just what’s genuinely shown on stage.

The format rewards patience: the biggest reveals are frequently saved for the back half of the runtime, so the show tends to build rather than front-load. If a franchise you care about has been quiet for a while, this is precisely the kind of stage where it tends to resurface.

Grab a seat, keep this tab open, and let the two-hour blitz do its thing. We’ll be sorting the signal from the noise so you don’t have to rewind the stream three times to catch what you missed.
