iRobot picked the opening of IFA 2026 to crown a new flagship. The Roomba Max 875 Combo, unveiled on September 2, 2026, pushed the Roomba Max 775 off the top spot only months after that model arrived — capping a year that had already brought the compact Roomba Mini in March and a wave of eight new models in May.
The headline trick is SealForce vacuuming technology. Instead of relying on raw suction alone, the chassis lowers a dedicated skirt that forms a tight seal against carpet fibers, concentrating the vacuuming force right where debris hides. Combined with 35,000 Pa of suction and 20 L/s of tornado-like airflow, iRobot claims the system cleans carpets three times deeper than it would without SealForce — the company’s best pickup performance to date.
Mopping gets an equally serious upgrade. Ultrasonic ThermaMist continuously sprays a heated mist to soften dried-on spills so tough stains lift in a single pass, while the self-cleaning PowerSpin Max roller mop — the industry’s largest, according to iRobot — scrubs with heated water at 300 RPM under 18 Newtons of downward pressure. iRobot says that delivers 3.75 times deeper scrubbing and 1.2 times wider coverage per pass than a standard PowerSpin roller.
- DriLift automatically detects carpeted areas, raises the mop roller and lowers a protective shield so rugs stay completely dry during the run.
- PerfectEdge uses an outward-expanding brush to reach corners and edges.
- Precision Vision AI recognizes over 300 common household objects, so pet bowls and children’s toys are no longer hazards.
- The AutoWash dock washes the roller at 176°F, dries it with 131°F heated air and self-empties into an AllergenLock bag that lasts up to 90 days.
“It combines serious cleaning power with smart automation, so customers can spend less time managing their floors and more time enjoying their homes and experiences outside their home, too,” Reena Paatel, Floorcare Category Manager at iRobot, told Tom’s Guide. “It’s not just a smarter clean; it’s a stronger, deeper, and more effortless clean.”
Through the Roomba app you can set personalized cleaning schedules, target rooms with heavier footfall, prioritize pet areas and choose between a light, medium or deep clean. One thing all that tech still can’t do — climb stairs.
The Roomba Max 875 Combo robot + AutoWash dock is already listed on iRobot’s online store at US$1,199.99, with orders shipping in approximately two weeks as of launch day.
