Battery rumors usually creep upward as a launch nears. The iQOO 16 has gone the other way. Digital Chat Station, the Weibo tipster with a solid record on vivo and iQOO hardware, had earlier pegged the phone at an 8,500 mAh cell. In a September 6, 2026 update the same source called the figure settled at 8,400 mAh.
A 100 mAh haircut is noise in daily use, and it barely dents the headline. The outgoing iQOO 15 carries a 7,000 mAh battery — already generous by flagship standards — so the iQOO 16 is still adding a substantial chunk of capacity in the same generation gap. That is the part worth watching: silicon-carbon chemistry has let Chinese vendors keep stuffing cells into bodies that are not getting noticeably thicker.
Charging is where the leaks are less dramatic. The iQOO 16 is rumored to keep the iQOO 15’s 100W wired speed rather than push past it. Wireless charging is also expected to survive, but no one has pinned down the rate; the iQOO 15 tops out at 40W without a cable. If iQOO holds that line, a bigger battery at the same wattage means a slightly longer stint on the charger — the trade most buyers will happily take.
The rest of the rumored sheet reads like a gaming flagship that has quietly grown up:
- Display: 6.85-inch flat 2K panel at 165Hz
- Security: 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner
- Main camera: 50MP with an OmniVision OV50Q sensor
- Durability: IP68 and IP69 ratings
- Extras: a dedicated graphics chip alongside the main SoC
That last item is the iQOO signature — a discrete display/graphics co-processor for frame interpolation and resolution upscaling in games, which is also the sort of silicon that quietly eats into the battery advantage. Perhaps that is why the cell keeps growing.
On the platform side, the iQOO 16 has turned up on Geekbench with an unannounced Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, 16GB of RAM and Android 17. Qualcomm has not confirmed the chip’s name or specifications; its Snapdragon Summit is scheduled for September 22–24, 2026, which is the obvious venue for that reveal.
Digital Chat Station has also shared an image hinting at a redesigned rear camera module, so the iQOO 16 will not simply be the iQOO 15 with a fatter cell. The phone is expected to launch in September 2026, though iQOO has not published a date, a price or a spec sheet of its own. For reference, the iQOO 15 arrived on October 20, 2025 — an earlier slot this year would put the iQOO 16 in the thick of the autumn flagship rush in China.
Until iQOO says something official, every number above stays in the rumor column. But when a tipster revises a figure down, it usually means the sheet is close to final.
