Pastebot 3. The Mac clipboard manager reborn after a decade
SHARE

Nearly ten years after Pastebot 2 landed, Tapbots has finally shipped a full-blown successor. Pastebot 3 arrived on July 23, 2026, and it’s a ground-up rework of one of the Mac’s most beloved clipboard managers — the kind of utility you don’t think about until you can’t live without it.

The headline change is organization. Pastebot 3 introduces an overhauled interface built around a sidebar that puts folders, tags, and your full clipboard history within easy reach. Search has been sharpened too, with advanced filters that let you narrow things down by content type, date, or the source app a snippet came from. If you’ve ever tried to dig a copied URL out of a sea of screenshots, you’ll appreciate this.

The bigger story, though, is automation. Pastebot 3 packs an integrated system for building custom rules that fire automatically — categorizing copied content, applying formatting, or piping text straight into other applications. It’s the sort of quiet power-user feature that turns a clipboard tool into something closer to a workflow engine.

Longtime fans will recognize plenty of returning staples, now polished:

  • Clipboard History — a running log of everything you copy, ready to paste again.
  • Custom Pastebins — store frequently used clippings permanently, or set up rule-based Smart Pastebins.
  • Quick Paste Menu — hit Shift + Command + V in any app to summon Pastebot on the spot.
  • Powerful Filters — create custom filters and apply them before pasting.
  • Stacks — copy several items and paste them back out one after another in sequence.

Round it out with iCloud Sync, Shortcuts and CLI support, keyboard shortcuts, and universal clipboard, and you have a genuinely capable modern utility.

There’s a catch on the requirements front: Pastebot 3 needs macOS 26 Tahoe or later, so this is strictly for those on Apple’s newest release. A 14-day free trial lets you kick the tires first.

Pricing is refreshingly straightforward. A direct purchase from Tapbots runs US$39 and includes one year of updates; additional years cost $19 each. Stop paying and you keep the latest version your purchase covered — no ransomware-style lockout. Owners of Pastebot 2 can knock the price down with a $12.99 upgrade discount by entering their existing license key at checkout. Prefer a subscription? The App Store route is $2.99 per month or $24.99 per year, though that version is still awaiting Apple’s approval.

Tapbots was candid about how it got here. The studio revealed that a family member’s cancer diagnosis last year hit hard, both emotionally and financially, halting other work. Pastebot 3 is, in part, the product of that pause — which makes its arrival feel like more than just a version bump.
