Technics EAH-AZ100B1K. When rock royalty meets fluid-driven earbuds

Some collaborations feel like a marketing shrug. This one has actual engineering behind it. Technics dressed its flagship earbuds in Rolling Stones livery, capped production at just 5,000 pairs worldwide, and put them on sale online only. If you didn’t move fast, you’re probably already out of luck.

The Technics EAH-AZ100B1K arrived on July 10, 2026, timed to coincide with a new Rolling Stones album release. It carries the band’s unmistakable tongue-and-lips iconography, but strip away the paint job and you’re looking at Technics’ serious top-tier hardware rather than a novelty tie-in.

At the heart of each earbud sits a 10mm Magnetic Fluid Driver — the same technology Technics uses to reduce distortion and tighten up transient response. It’s the kind of component that justifies the fuss, especially when the source material is fifty years of guitar riffs that deserve to breathe.

The feature list reads like a genuine flagship spec sheet:

  • Battery life: up to 10 hours with noise cancellation switched on, and up to 28 hours total using the charging case with ANC active
  • Spatial audio: Dolby Atmos playback with Dolby Head Tracking
  • Multipoint connectivity: pair with up to three devices at once
  • Water resistance: IPX4 certification against splashes and sweat

That multipoint support is more useful than it sounds — hopping between a laptop, phone and tablet without re-pairing is one of those quality-of-life features you stop noticing until it’s gone. The IPX4 rating won’t survive a swim, but it comfortably handles a rainy walk or a heavy gym session.

Pricing lands at £259 / €299. Technics has not announced a US dollar price for the Rolling Stones edition, so American buyers are left watching from the sidelines on this particular run. For reference, the standard EAH-AZ100 sells for $299 in the States, so the collaboration sits in familiar flagship territory rather than commanding an absurd collector’s tax.

And that’s really the interesting part. Limited-run audio gear often trades entirely on the logo, hoping you’ll ignore mediocre internals. Here, the black-and-red styling rides on top of hardware that stands up on its own merits — the magnetic fluid driver, the spatial audio chops, the sensible battery figures. The Rolling Stones branding is the reason to notice it; the acoustics are the reason to actually want it.

With only 5,000 pairs made and sales running online exclusively, this is squarely a fans-and-collectors proposition. But it’s a rare case where the collectible and the genuinely good product happen to be the same thing.
