Google Health. Turning cryptic lab reports into infographics you can actually read

Anyone who has ever squinted at a blood panel — a wall of acronyms, reference ranges and numbers that mean nothing without a medical degree — knows the pain. Google is quietly working on a fix. An experimental feature called Medical Record Infographic has surfaced inside the Google Health app, and its job is refreshingly simple: take a dense lab report and turn it into a clean visual summary you can grasp at a glance.

The idea slots neatly into what Google Health already does. Since the app launched on May 7th, 2026, it has pulled together activity, sleep, workouts, health metrics and supported medical records into a single place. Users can sync their medical records to quickly view key information like lab results, vitals and medications, and — crucially — watch how those numbers shift over time. The Medical Record Infographic feature builds directly on that plumbing, adding a layer of visual storytelling on top of the raw data.

If you haven’t poked around the app yet, it’s organised into four main tabs — Today, Fitness, Sleep and Health — designed to give a broader picture of your wellbeing while letting you customise dashboards and track trends. An infographic view fits that philosophy: less deciphering, more understanding.

Here’s how the pieces line up:

  • The standard Google Health app is free.
  • Google Health Premium plans start at US$9.99 per month or US$99 per year.
  • Google Health Coach — an AI-powered assistant built with Gemini — requires Google Health Premium plus a paired Fitbit or Pixel Watch.

Google began rolling the app out to Fitbit users on May 19th, and existing users didn’t need to install anything separate — it simply arrived. That matters for a feature like this, because the value of visualising lab results only materialises once your records are already flowing into the app.

It’s worth being clear about the status: Medical Record Infographic is experimental. That label tends to mean it isn’t broadly switched on yet, and its final form could change before — or if — it reaches everyone. Google hasn’t tied it to a specific release, so treat it as a signal of intent rather than a shipping feature.

Still, the direction is telling. Health apps have spent years hoarding data; the harder, more useful problem is making that data legible to the person it belongs to. A cholesterol number is just a number until something shows you whether it’s climbing, holding or improving. If the infographic feature does what its name promises, it could quietly become one of the more genuinely helpful additions to Google Health — the kind you notice not because it dazzles, but because you finally understand your own results.
