Zhong Yi Pittura 30mm f/2.4. Fast wide glass for medium format shooters

Wide-angle and bright aperture rarely share a medium format lens, but Zhong Yi Optics went after both with the PITTURA 30mm f/2.4. Announced on August 7, 2026, this manual focus prime targets Hasselblad XCD and Fujifilm GFX owners who want a sweeping field of view without giving up light.

The 30mm focal length translates to roughly a 24mm full-frame equivalent, so you get proper wide-angle coverage across those large sensors. The aperture runs from f/2.4 to f/22 and is controlled by a clicked aperture ring — a nice tactile touch for photographers who like to feel their settings rather than tap a screen.

Inside, the optical formula is ambitious for the class: 13 elements arranged in 12 groups, paired with an 11-blade aperture that should keep out-of-focus highlights pleasantly round and render bokeh smoothly even as you stop down. The front filter thread measures 58mm, a manageable size for such a wide, fast optic on a medium format body.

Close-focus fans get some love too. The minimum focusing distance is 20cm / 7.8″, tight enough to exaggerate perspective and pull viewers into a scene — handy for environmental portraits, tabletop work, or dramatic architectural shots.

Physically, the lens is refreshingly compact given what it covers. It weighs about 550g / 19.4 oz, with the exact footprint depending on the mount:

  • GFX: Ø 81mm x 80mm
  • XCD: Ø 73mm x 84mm

Being fully manual keeps the mechanics simple and the price down, though it also means you’ll be racking focus by hand — no autofocus motor to lean on. For the deliberate, slower shooting style that many medium format users already embrace, that’s less a compromise than a feature.

The PITTURA 30mm f/2.4 is available now for US$499, in both Fujifilm GFX and Hasselblad XCD mounts. That’s a strikingly aggressive figure for a fast wide-angle on formats where native glass usually commands far more, and it makes Zhong Yi’s offering an easy one to consider for anyone chasing dramatic wide compositions on a larger sensor.

Whether you’re shooting cramped interiors, star-filled landscapes, or exaggerated close-ups, a bright 24mm-equivalent prime is a rare tool in the medium format kit bag — and this one arrives at a price that lowers the barrier considerably.
