The Motorola Signature is finally tasting Android 17. Motorola has begun pushing the stable update to its flagship, which arrived back in January 2026, with the rollout kicking off in India. It’s a hefty download at 5.75GB, so hook up to a solid Wi-Fi connection before you tap install.
Once it lands, your Signature moves to software build A171WVH.21-16-1-3-4 — quite possibly the most bewildering version string we’ve ever laid eyes on, and we’ve seen some contenders. Alphabet soup aside, the changelog promises a “fresh, expressive design”, reduced clutter thanks to smarter notifications, and faster multitasking that keeps more apps running in the background without stumbling.
That last point matters on a phone built for muscle. The Signature packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, so aggressive multitasking is very much its wheelhouse. Android 17’s threading improvements should let that hardware breathe.
The rest of the package remains a proper 2026 flagship spread. Up front sits a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a blisteringly smooth 165Hz refresh rate and peak brightness reaching up to 6,200 nits — bright enough to shrug off harsh sunlight. On the back, Motorola fitted a trio of 50MP sensors: a 50MP f/1.6 main with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide with macro duties, and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto. Selfies are handled by a 50MP front camera.
Keeping the lights on is a 5,200mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, while IP68/IP69 ratings and MIL-STD-810H certification mean it can weather dust, jets of water and the odd tumble.
Perhaps the most reassuring detail is Motorola’s promise of seven years of OS and security updates — a commitment that makes this first major jump to Android 17 feel like the opening chapter rather than a one-off treat. Pricing runs to €523.26 for the 12GB/256GB model, though it varies by region.
If you own a Signature and haven’t seen the notification yet, be patient: staged rollouts trickle out in waves, and India is first in line. When it does arrive, that 5.75GB payload is worth the wait.
