Samsung Galaxy A35 and A56. Beta software may arrive out of order

Samsung’s software calendar rarely runs in a straight line, and the latest firmware sightings suggest another detour. Evidence has surfaced that the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A56 could jump into the One UI 9 beta program before receiving their stable builds — a quirk that would put two mid-range phones ahead of much of the lineup.

For context, One UI 9 is Samsung’s next major interface, built on Android 17. So far the company has released the One UI 9 beta only for the Galaxy S26 series, and it hasn’t announced a timeline for expanding the program to other devices. That silence makes the new discoveries more interesting than the usual roadmap chatter.

The clues are specific. Two beta firmware builds have been spotted on Samsung’s servers: A356NKSUAZZH5 for the Galaxy A35 and A566SKSU9ZZHH for the Galaxy A56. Firmware appearing internally doesn’t guarantee a public rollout date, but it’s a reliable signal that engineering work is well underway rather than purely theoretical.

If you need a refresher on the hardware that would host the new software, here’s where these two sit.

The Galaxy A35 5G, announced March 11, 2024, leans on an Exynos 1380 chip with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Its 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display runs at a 120Hz refresh rate, and imaging comes from a 50MP + 8MP + 5MP triple rear camera paired with a 13MP front camera. A 5000mAh battery handles power duties with 25W fast charging. As of today it remains on sale, priced at $259 in the US.

The newer Galaxy A56 5G, announced March 2, 2025 with worldwide availability from March 28, 2025, steps things up with an Exynos 1580 processor, again with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The screen grows to 6.7 inches of Super AMOLED at 120Hz, while the camera array shifts to 50MP + 12MP + 5MP on the back and 12MP up front. Its 5000mAh battery supports faster 45W charging.

What makes this scenario notable is the sequencing. Beta software normally lands on a company’s flagships first, then trickles down over months. A mid-range phone entering beta before a stable release exists elsewhere in the range is unusual — and it hints that Samsung wants broader real-world testing across price tiers before locking in One UI 9.

A few caveats are worth keeping in mind:

  • Firmware on a server is not the same as a live beta enrollment window.
  • Samsung hasn’t confirmed which regions would be first in line.
  • Plans can shift before any public sign-up opens.

Still, for owners of either handset, the takeaway is encouraging: Android 17 and One UI 9 appear to be genuinely on the horizon, and possibly sooner in beta form than the usual pecking order would suggest.
