The beskar helmet stays on, but the voice underneath it has changed. LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+ on September 2, 2026, and for the first time Din Djarin is not performed by Pedro Pascal. Voice actor Gavin Hammon stepped into the role for the animated special, Disney confirmed, taking over the galaxy’s most stoic bounty hunter in brick form.
The special, from Lucasfilm and The LEGO Group, is a comedic retelling of memorable moments from all three seasons of the live-action series, revisiting Mando and Grogu’s story in new and deliberately silly ways. Chris Buckley directed it from a script by Michael Price, and it is pitched at Star Wars and LEGO fans of all ages.
What makes the recast stand out is who did come back. Pascal appears to be the only member of the main cast not reprising his role. The returning lineup includes Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, along with Emily Swallow, Ming-Na Wen, Rosario Dawson, Temuera Morrison and Giancarlo Esposito. Disney’s press materials also list David Acord as Grogu, plus Amy Sedaris and Bill Burr among the voice cast.
None of this means Pascal is done wearing the armor in live action. During the press tour for The Mandalorian and Grogu in 2026, he made his position clear: “You know, age is a real thing… Whatever my body can do, and however long people want to experience these stories with these characters, is how long I want it to last.” He has also said he hopes there will be a next chapter for Din and Grogu in the corner of the Star Wars universe built by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.
A stand-in under the helmet is nothing new for this character, either. Throughout the live-action series, stunt performers Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder regularly wore Din Djarin’s armor for action sequences and whenever Pascal was not physically available, with Pascal supplying the voice. The LEGO special simply flips that arrangement: this time the voice is the part that got recast.
The timing was no accident. September 2, 2026 was a full-on Mandalorian day at Disney+: alongside the LEGO special, the feature film Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu — directed by Jon Favreau and starring Pascal and Sigourney Weaver — made its streaming debut the same day, available in IMAX Enhanced.
