BenQ has kicked off a refreshed Creative Pro lineup with the PD2732U, a 27-inch 4K monitor built for photographers, video editors and graphic designers who care more about color fidelity than flashy refresh rates. At US$699.99, it’s aggressively priced for what it promises.
The headline numbers are the color figures. BenQ claims 99% Adobe RGB and 99% DCI-P3 coverage, plus a full 100% sRGB gamut — a genuinely strong spread at this price. That Adobe RGB reach is exactly what print-focused photographers want when matching screen to paper, while the DCI-P3 coverage keeps video editors honest. Each panel ships factory-calibrated with an included color report and rated Delta E < 2 accuracy out of the box. It’s also Calman- and Pantone-verified, and leans on BenQ’s AQCOLOR technology and display uniformity calibration.
As always, price and precision come with tradeoffs. The 3840 x 2160 panel runs at 60 Hz rather than the 120 Hz you’ll find on pricier creative displays, so gamers and high-frame-rate editors should look elsewhere. Peak brightness tops out at 400 nits, which limits its usefulness for serious HDR grading. For color-critical still and video work under controlled lighting, though, neither is a dealbreaker.
BenQ has clearly built this one with Apple users in mind. An M-book Mode aims to eliminate visible differences between the PD2732U and a MacBook’s built-in display — handy for anyone extending a Mac workflow onto a second panel. An iDevice Color Sync mode lets you preview iPhone and iPad content more accurately, and iKeyboard Control means Mac owners can tweak brightness and volume straight from their keyboard.
The monitor also ships with a wireless hotkey puck for quick access to color modes, brightness and other settings. It doubles as a macOS system-level shortcut controller, which is a neat touch for cutting down on menu-diving.
Connectivity is well stocked. You get DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1, three USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and two Thunderbolt 4-compatible USB-C ports. The 15-watt Thunderbolt 4 port supports daisy-chaining additional monitors and devices, so a clean single-cable setup is on the table.
The PD2732U is available exclusively through B&H in the United States for US$699.99 and began shipping on July 22. There’s also a bundle pairing it with a single Ergo Arm for US$799.98 — a US$50 instant saving — that adds easy height and tilt adjustment. Buy it standalone and you’ll still get a standard height-adjustable stand.
As the opening act for BenQ’s upgraded Creative Pro range, the PD2732U makes a strong case: pro-grade color coverage and factory calibration at a price that undercuts much of the competition, provided you can live without high refresh rates and bright HDR.
