- Choose forgiving sleeve materials. If you must save space, pick a wallet lined with polypropylene, polyethene, felt, microfibre or netting rather than hard, cheap plastic. These soft materials dramatically cut the risk of scuffing.
- Keep discs out of direct sunlight. Store your wallet somewhere cool, and don’t cart it around in the car during the hotter months unless your air conditioning is genuinely excellent.
- Store standing up, not lying down. Keeping the wallet upright removes the stacked weight that leads to warping.
None of this requires new gadgets or clever tech — just a bit of care and the right materials. And that’s rather the point. In an era where streaming services quietly hike subscription prices and yank titles from catalogues without warning, a well-kept disc collection keeps giving for years with no monthly fee attached.
