Lenovo Project AeroBlade. A fanless 10 mm laptop cooled by jets of air

Lenovo has a long history of concept laptops that never leave the show floor, but the one it brought to the IFA Berlin 2026 trade show looked ready to ship. The Project AeroBlade Concept is a fanless laptop measuring 10 mm thin and weighing 1.8 pounds, with a magnesium-aluminum body light enough to make today’s featherweights, like the Asus Zenbook A14 or the MacBook Air, feel heavy by comparison.

What makes it possible is a new active cooling technology from Frore Systems, and Lenovo became the first computer manufacturer to unveil a laptop built around Frore’s AirJet Mini fanless air-cooling modules. Frore is known for liquid-cooling technology used in data centers; AirJet is its play for consumer computers. In place of fans, heatsinks and large vents, the system, which Lenovo calls the Active Flow Thermal Solution, pulls ambient air from inside the laptop to create 2,000 Pascals of back pressure (around 124 miles per hour) and forces it through tiny jets onto a copper base layer. Frore claims this disrupts the boundary layer that normally causes heat buildup and throttling, letting the processor’s heat escape out the back. A motherboard sample from the concept showed four AirJet modules embedded along the top of the laptop.

  • Each AirJet module can generate 10 times the back pressure of a regular laptop fan, according to Frore, and moves air without needing many vents
  • Lenovo says the Active Flow Thermal Solution uses the same power as a traditional fan while being debris- and water-resistant
  • The laptop has an OLED screen and USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 support
  • The engineering sample runs an Intel Lunar Lake processor; the cooling supports up to 20 watts of thermal design power, and a more powerful AirJet Pro module also exists

The unit shown to press was fully functional, and Lenovo described it as a “very mature and refined product in terms of sample stability.” The Frore partnership is not exclusive, so other laptop makers could adopt AirJet cooling as well. Lenovo did not reveal battery life, pricing or availability, and if the concept reaches production, the company says the final chipset may differ; the AirJet technology could also surface in future variants of its existing laptops and mini PCs.

Alongside AeroBlade, Lenovo showed a second concept called Project Swan, a 3.5-pound machine with a rollable display that expands horizontally from 14 to 17 inches at the push of a button. It builds on the rollable gaming laptop the company debuted at CES 2026, refined with lessons from those earlier projects.
