Honor has taken the wraps off MagicOS 11, its Android 17-based software, at its Global Developer Conference, which the company had scheduled for September 15, 2026. After weeks of teasers and a closed test, the finished build is out in the open, and it brings a clear visual shift, a more ambitious AI assistant and a beta programme that already covers a long list of phones.
Glass on top, new foundations underneath
The headline change is the look. MagicOS 11 adopts a liquid glass design that openly borrows from Apple’s iOS styling, with translucent layers and a softer, more fluid feel. To make it work without slowing things down, Honor built it on two in-house base architectures, Luminous and Hummingbird, which tune interface dynamics, AI processing and hardware performance.
Honor says the glass effect doesn’t cost speed: it claims system animations are up to 20% faster than on MagicOS 10. The refresh also covers the details you touch every day:
- redesigned icons, menu items and widgets;
- customizable tinting for home screen icons and the dock;
- Storage Space 2.0, which uses lossless compression of stored data and, according to Honor, frees up to 60GB.
Yoyo learns to take long walks
The other big story is the updated Yoyo AI assistant. Honor has set it up to handle over 1,000 scenarios and to plug into over 10,000 third-party AI services, although that number applies to China at least. The more interesting claim is about agent-style work: Honor says Yoyo can carry out long tasks of up to 100 steps, moving the assistant beyond single commands and toward finishing a whole job on its own.
Friendlier to other ecosystems
MagicOS 11 also adds seamless file sharing and connectivity with Apple devices, as well as with phones from Oppo, vivo and Xiaomi. That’s a practical upgrade for anyone who has an iPhone or a rival Android phone in the same household.
Who gets it, and when
MagicOS 11 will ship first on the upcoming Honor Magic9 series. For existing owners, the public beta is open to over 18 devices, including the Magic8 series, the Magic V6 and Honor 600 models. A second group of phones can register for the internal beta: the Magic6 series, the Magic V3 and the Honor 400 and Honor 500 series. Honor says the next wave of devices will join between October and November.
The update looks like a careful balancing act. The glass aesthetic will draw comparisons with iOS, while the 100-step agent and cross-brand file sharing are the features that could matter more day to day, provided they work as well outside China as Honor promises.
