vivo had planned a reveal for its X500 family on September 21, but the flagship’s spec sheet surfaced first. On September 18, 2026, the main specifications of the vivo X500 Pro Max appeared online. In the same week the phone, together with the regular X500, was certified for sale in the UAE by the country’s regulator, the TDRA.
The leaked list reads like a checklist for a 2026 camera flagship. Nothing on it is a surprise, but it all fits together.
Display and platform
- 6.85-inch flat LTPO OLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and ultra-thin bezels
- MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset
- 7,000 mAh battery with 90W wired charging, plus wireless charging (speed not yet specified)
vivo is going with a flat panel where earlier flagships often used curved glass, and the Dimensity 9600 Pro is the headline act. The X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max are set to be the first phones announced with MediaTek’s new chip, which AndroidHeadlines describes as one of the first 2nm processors to reach the market. A 7,000 mAh cell with 90W charging continues the trend of Chinese flagships fitting silicon-carbon-sized batteries without adding much bulk. We’ll only know how the phone manages that when it is on the scales.
Cameras
The X-series lives or dies by its cameras, and the X500 Pro Max has three big sensors on the back:
- Main camera: Sony’s Lytia 910, a 1/1.28″ type LOFIC sensor, with 3-degree OIS
- Ultrawide: 50MP, based on Samsung’s ISOCELL JNX
- Periscope telephoto: 200MP, using Samsung’s ISOCELL HP0 1/1.4″ type sensor, with CIPA 7.0 professional-grade stabilization and support for a 400mm teleconverter
The main camera’s LOFIC sensor is the one to watch. LOFIC (lateral overflow integration capacitor) pixels can hold far more charge before clipping, which should give cleaner highlights in high-contrast scenes without relying so heavily on multi-frame HDR stacking. On the telephoto side, a 1/1.4″ type 200MP periscope is unusually large. Combined with CIPA 7.0-rated stabilization and the optional 400mm teleconverter, it shows vivo is again aiming at concert and wildlife shooters rather than casual zoom users.
Timing
The X500 family is scheduled for its Chinese unveiling on September 21. The global rollout of the X500 Pro Max is expected in October or November, and the UAE certification is an early sign of that. Pricing has not been announced.
