Adobe’s photo tools have picked up another place to work. On September 24, 2026, the company launched Adobe in Gemini, an integration that lets Google’s AI assistant use tools from Photoshop, Lightroom, Express and Firefly. You don’t open a Creative Cloud app, drag sliders or dig through panels. You describe the result you want in the chat, and Adobe picks the tools and steps to get there.
Gemini is the fifth such platform for Adobe. It had already brought its tools to ChatGPT, Claude, Slack and Copilot, and Google’s assistant is a big addition. Adobe describes Gemini as helping more than one billion people each month, which makes this one of the largest potential audiences Photoshop has had.
What it actually does
Adobe’s examples lean toward practical, commercial jobs rather than party tricks:
- Batch product photos. Upload a set of shots, describe the look you want, and Adobe optimizes lighting and color, crops the images consistently and prepares a finished collection for a storefront, website or marketing materials.
- One design, many channels. Ask for social-ready versions of an asset, and the branding and messaging stay intact across each version.
- Template customization. Describe a campaign, the target audience and the style you want. Adobe suggests matching Express designs and then personalizes the text, imagery and colors.
The batch workflow matters most to photographers. Consistent color and cropping across a whole series is tedious work that Lightroom presets were built for, and now you can request it in a sentence. How much control you get over the finer details is a fair question. Still, for e-commerce sellers and small businesses that have never touched a tone curve, conversational editing lowers the barrier a lot.
Google sees it the same way. “We’re excited to expand our partnership with Adobe and bring industry-leading creative tools directly into Gemini. Now, anyone can create, edit and bring their ideas to life right in the chat,” said Neal Pancholi, Managing Director, Global Partnerships, GDM & Gemini, Google.
Availability
Adobe in Gemini began rolling out globally on September 24, 2026, and works on all Gemini plans. To turn it on, go to Personal Intelligence in Gemini, select Adobe under connected apps, and sign in with an Adobe account. If you don’t have one, you can create an account for free. Adobe calls the launch the “first step” in its work with Google and promises more creative and productivity tools over time.
Claude gets Acrobat
On the same day, Adobe expanded its Adobe for Claude plugin. For the first time, it adds Acrobat tools to the existing creative lineup, for a total of more than 80 tools across Acrobat, Express, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom, InDesign, Adobe Stock and more. Users can delete, combine or split PDF pages, redact sensitive information and convert PDFs to other formats. A new interactive editor lets them reorder pages, edit text and add comments. Express designs get a layer-based editor, so images, copy, colors and fonts can be changed one at a time without regenerating the whole design. The plugin is rolling out across Claude and Claude Code on desktop, mobile and web.
Both launches point the same way. Adobe wants its editing tools available inside whichever chatbot people already use, and it still offers its full apps for work that needs more precision.
