Naming a pair of earbuds after one of nature’s most gifted mimics is a bold move — but Sivga’s new Lyrebird wired in-ears clearly want to earn the title. The pitch is a familiar one for audiophile brands punching above their weight: a genuinely high-end listening experience without the eye-watering price tag.
The headline act here is a four-strong, hybrid driver array crammed into each earpiece, with every unit handed its own slice of the frequency spectrum. A 10mm polymer dynamic driver takes care of the low end, while a dedicated balanced armature is tasked with rendering vocals with, in Sivga’s words, “exceptional clarity and detail”. Up top, a micro planar driver adds a smoother treble extension, and a 9.2mm multilayer ceramic driver is left to chase down the finest high-frequency nuances.
Splitting the workload across four specialised drivers is a strategy borrowed from far pricier in-ears, and on paper it should help the Lyrebird stay composed and detailed across busy tracks rather than letting a single driver do everything at once.
Sivga hasn’t skimped on the physical side either. Each earpiece pairs a handcrafted wooden faceplate — treated with resin to boost durability and tame unwanted resonances — with a precision-machined aluminium alloy housing. It’s a combination the brand is betting will look and feel more premium than the asking price suggests, while keeping the audio signature clean.
The full spec sheet backs up the audiophile ambitions: a frequency response of 20Hz – 20kHz, sensitivity of 108 ±3dB @1kHz, impedance of 14Ω ±15% @1kHz and total harmonic distortion rated at ≤1% @1kHz. That low impedance and high sensitivity suggest the Lyrebird shouldn’t be too fussy about what you plug them into.
Speaking of plugging in, these are resolutely wired — no batteries, no Bluetooth codec compromises. The bundled 120cm cable combines silver-plated and gold-plated copper conductors and terminates in a 4.4mm balanced connector, aimed squarely at listeners running a portable DAC or a source with a balanced output. In the box you’ll also find a leather carry case and a selection of silicone ear tips.
Sivga is no stranger to bird-themed audio, having previously launched the over-ear SV021 Robin. That model didn’t quite soar sonically, but showed enough promise to suggest the brand’s talents were still developing — and the Lyrebird feels like a more focused attempt to deliver on that potential.
