Huawei MatePad Pro 2026. A 12-inch OLED slab that tips the scales at just 439g

Huawei’s latest flagship tablet, the MatePad Pro 2026, is proof that big screens don’t have to mean bulk. At 264.2 x 172.9 x 4.7 mm and just 439g, this 12-inch slate is thinner than a stack of a few coins and light enough to hold one-handed through a long reading session.

The headline act is a 12-inch OLED panel running at a crisp 3036×1952 resolution, with peak brightness climbing to 1,600 nits. That’s plenty to keep the screen legible outdoors and gives HDR content the punch it deserves.

Under the glass, Huawei splits the lineup in two. The standard version leans on the Kirin T93 chipset, while the cheaper Enjoy Edition steps down to the Kirin T93A. Both trims ship with 12GB of RAM, and you can pick either 256GB or 512GB of storage. Software duties fall to HarmonyOS 6.1, Huawei’s own homegrown platform.

Photography isn’t usually the reason anyone buys a tablet, but the MatePad Pro 2026 is better equipped than most. Around the back sits a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, and the front houses a 12MP f/2.4 selfie shooter — handy for video calls and document scanning.

Keeping everything running is a sizeable 10,400 mAh battery. Huawei pairs it with 66W wired charging to top up quickly, plus 40W reverse wired charging so the tablet can feed juice to a phone or accessory when needed.

Pricing reflects the two-tier strategy. The standard MatePad Pro 2026 starts at $888 for the 12GB + 256GB configuration, rising to $1,065 if you opt for the PaperMatte Display that swaps glare for a paper-like matte finish. The Enjoy Edition undercuts that, opening at $843 for the same 12GB + 256GB spec.

Huawei announced the tablet alongside the nova 16 SE smartphone, and official sales begin on August 14, 2026. On paper, it’s a compelling package: a premium OLED display, flagship charging, and a chassis light enough to make you forget you’re carrying a 12-inch device at all. The lingering question, as ever with Huawei’s recent hardware, is how far HarmonyOS 6.1’s app ecosystem stretches for buyers outside China.
