Mega Rayquaza is coming home. The Pokémon Company has locked in the full details for Mega Evolution—Delta Reign, the Rayquaza-headlined expansion first teased back in June, and it drops on November 6, 2026. It marks the sky serpent’s first appearance in the Pokémon Trading Card Game since the XY—Ancient Origins set way back in 2015 — a ten-year wait that card collectors have not forgotten.
The star of the show is Mega Rayquaza ex, and it isn’t arriving alone. Delta Reign packs in more than 135 cards, headlined by four Mega Evolution Pokémon ex: Rayquaza, Golurk, Malamar, and Golisopod. Round that out with six Pokémon ex, six Stadium cards, 14 illustration rare Pokémon, 17 ultra rare Pokémon and Trainer cards, and six special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards, and you’ve got a chase-heavy set built for pullers and deck-builders alike.
The most intriguing addition is a brand-new mechanic: Legendary Stadiums. These are formed by pairing two Stadium cards side by side, whose artwork extends across both halves to create a single sprawling scene. Three of them make up the six Stadium cards in the set. Handily, any booster pack containing a Legendary Stadium includes both halves you need, so you won’t be hunting a stray second panel across a dozen packs.
Card-art nerds have another reason to pay attention. One notable card features an embroidered illustration by artist Tayu — the kind of experimental, texture-forward treatment the TCG rarely attempts, and a sign that the set is leaning hard into premium collector appeal.
Delta Reign will be sold in booster packs and Elite Trainer Boxes. Pre-orders through official channels aren’t live yet, but hobby shops have already begun taking them, with early retail asks landing around US$199.90 for a 36-pack booster box and US$99.90 for an Elite Trainer Box. Those are store prices rather than a confirmed MSRP, so treat them as a ballpark rather than gospel.
If you’d rather play than pull, participating retailers get the cards ahead of launch for pre-release tournaments starting October 24. The set also lands digitally on Pokémon TCG Live on November 5, one day before physical shelves.
Delta Reign is only the latest chapter in what’s become a full-blown Rayquaza revival. In July, Pokémon TCG Pocket rolled out its Ruler of the Skies expansion, also built around the legendary dragon. Meanwhile, persistent rumors of modern ports of Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire keep circling — the third-generation games that introduced Rayquaza remain critically beloved more than two decades on, yet neither the originals nor the 2014 3DS remakes are playable on current hardware. For now, this cardboard reunion is the best way to bring the sky-high legend back into the fold.
