Samsung has quietly confirmed what leakers have been whispering for months, the Galaxy Tab S12 lineup is real and it’s arriving in the second half of 2026. The nod came during Samsung’s Q3 earnings call, where executive Daniel Araujo cited the successful launch of new premium products in the back half of the year as part of the plan to weather the ongoing RAM crisis squeezing the mobile division. No firm date was given on the call, but industry watchers expect the reveal to land around IFA 2026 (September 4-8).
The series splits into two flavours, the Galaxy Tab S12+ and the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. Both ditch Qualcomm this round for a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, a notable strategic shift for Samsung’s flagship slate line.
Screen real estate is where these two diverge. The Tab S12+ carries a 12.4-inch OLED panel, while the Ultra stretches to a laptop-rivalling 14.6-inch OLED. Both refresh at up to 120Hz, so scrolling, sketching and gaming should stay buttery whether you’re on the smaller pad or the enormous one.
Cameras are competent rather than showy, which is exactly right for a tablet. Both models pack a 13MP main rear sensor, and the Ultra adds an 8MP ultrawide. Up front sits a 12MP camera capable of 4K video, a nod to the video-call crowd and content creators alike.
Under the hood, the software is fresh out of the box, Android 17 layered with Samsung’s One UI 9.0. Connectivity is thoroughly modern too, with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and a USB 3.2 Type-C port for fast data transfers.
The rest of the spec sheet reads like a productivity manifesto:
- S Pen support for note-taking and drawing
- IP68 dust and water resistance
- Quad speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos
- A 10,500mAh or 10,600mAh battery in the Tab S12+
None of this comes cheap. Pricing is expected to start near $1,100, which firmly plants the Tab S12 series in premium territory and pits it directly against the priciest tablets and even some ultraportable laptops. That’s a lot to ask, but a 14.6-inch OLED with S Pen input, Dolby Atmos speakers and Wi-Fi 7 is squarely aimed at buyers who want a tablet that can genuinely stand in for a laptop.
For now, Samsung is keeping the finer details close to its chest, but with the second-half window confirmed and IFA on the horizon, the wait for full specs and a firm on-sale date shouldn’t be long.
